Although HIPER recommends to use PSU equips with proper 8-pin connector for these high-power graphic card for full performance, the PCI-E 6-pin connector can still be inserted into the 8-pin receptacle. The 8-pin receptacle is idiot-proof so that the 6-pin can be properly aligned when plugging in leaving 2 pins unoccupied. There is no need for an adaptor to convert 6-pin to 8 pin. The graphic card can detect whether a 8-pin or 6-pin connector is plugged and consumes power accordingly, however any graphics operation and actual display to a connected output device, whether VGA or otherwise, is not guaranteed and is implementation dependent. Please always refer to the graphic card manual for power requirement.
